Milestones and Baby Steps

It's been so long since my last post that I should probably call this a cobwebsite.
Okay, that was terrible. But seriously ... for the past nine months, my blog has been an exercise in futility. A reflection of my fragmented existence. Too many projects and priorities chattering away in my mind, battling for precedence, with too little focused effort to corral them.
Occasionally, I log into my blog with the intention of posting. I usually ignore the backlog of Wordpress update notifications that greet me, but they weigh on me as reminders of my clogged brain, fuelling another false start. Other times, I embrace the notifications and invest myself in "maintenance mode" ... then log out, temporarily satisfied with my so-called productivity, without writing a word of whatever it was that I had meant to share in the first place.
I have a lot to talk about these days -- most of it deeply personal, which is so much harder to share than news and views and social commentary. I hope this post will unclog the stream of thoughts that long to find their way to this page. It's not that I've been uncreative; I've written many songs, crafted a few speeches, and started writing a Young Adult series -- a speculative fiction trilogy -- that will be my most ambitious writing project to date. Oh, and I've reached a major milestone, too ...
Today I released 17 Weddings for pre-sale. My second novel, which started as a whimsical concept and evolved into a three-year journey into the essence of human relationships, is now available for pre-order in paperback and e-book formats.
I was so excited to reach this milestone today that I celebrated by saying "yes" to all those Wordpress update notifications. I certainly know how to party! Now I plan to take my son skating, share some sort of celebratory treat with my family, and get back to writing. Yes, this milestone is also a baby step. Stay tuned ...
